Ebrahim Asvat K. is a founding partner of Patton, Moreno & Asvat. His practice focuses on corporate law, asset and tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, and offshore business structures.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science, summa cum laude, from Universidad Santa María La Antigua, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. He has also completed studies in real estate business at ADEN Business School, international public and private law at The Hague Academy of International Law, and international arbitration through Wolters Kluwer.
Dr. Asvat served as Professor of Private International Law at Universidad Santa María La Antigua from 1980 to 1993. He has also held several public and private sector positions, including Legal Adviser to the Vice President of the Republic of Panama, Chief of the Panamanian Police Force, Secretary of Goals during the administration of former President Martín Torrijos, and President of Geo-Media, S.A., parent company of the newspapers El Siglo and La Estrella de Panamá.
He is the author of “La Cláusula Penal” (1979), “Bank Secrecy” (1980), and “President’s Logbook” (2011). He has also served as a trustee of FE TV, founded MiBanco and the Amador Foundation, and currently serves as a trustee of an endowment fund of Universidad Santa María La Antigua. He is also a columnist and political analyst.
