He has received numerous awards for his professional work. Forbes has repeatedly included him among its 100 Italian Legal Leaders, and he is regularly recognised as one of Italy’s leading tax lawyers by Il Sole 24 Ore, Milano Finanza, Corriere della Sera, TopLegal, Legalcommunity, Leaders League and Client Choice. The monthly magazine I Love Sicilia ranks him among the 100 most influential Sicilians.
LEXIA Avvocati, under his guide, has repeatedly won the TopLegal Award for Law Firm of the Year in the “Southern Italy and Islands” category and is recommended by both Leaders League and The Legal 500 in the field of Corporate Tax.
He teaches on the Master’s Programme in Tax Law, Accounting and Tax Planning atusiness School. He previously taught Public Finance Law and Public Finance at the University of Palermo and served as Director of Il Sole 24 Ore’s Training Programme for Tax Judges.
He was also a member of the Steering Committee of the Second-Level Master’s Programme in International and European Tax Law at the University of Palermo, a member of the Editorial Committee of the journal published by the Permanent Observatory on Tax Justice, and a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Diritto e pratica tributaria internazionale.
He is the author of numerous publications on tax law, as well as a monograph entitled Regulatory Powers and Tax Incentives. His research and publications have addressed, among other topics, the relationship between ethics and taxation, the taxation of crypto-assets, the use of algorithms in tax systems, the taxation of professionals, and fiscal equalisation between Northern and Southern Italy.
He served as Chairman of IRFIS-FinSicilia S.p.A., Sicily’s regional development finance institution.
Long active in professional associations and organisations representing the business community, he is a member of Aspen Institute Italia. He has held numerous positions within Confcommercio and the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy and has served as a member of the Council of the Palermo and Enna Chamber of Commerce.
