Professor Ernest Kofi Abotsi is the Dean of the UPSA Law School in Accra, Ghana, Managing Partner of Axis Legal Solicitors, and an Associate Professor of Law. A former Dean of the GIMPA Law School, he is a respected public intellectual, legal scholar, and practitioner. His expertise spans constitutional law, trade law, corporate law, and human rights. Professor Abotsi has published extensively in leading international journals, consulted for global institutions such as the IMF and UNICEF, and lectured in renowned universities worldwide. He is also a lifetime member of the Governing Council of the Africa Bar Association.

Prior to his current role, Professor Abotsi was Dean of the GIMPA Law School and has lectured extensively across Ghana. He is a lifetime member of the Governing Council of the Africa Bar Association and serves on the Corporate & Commercial Committee of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, in addition to his active membership in the Ghana Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
His scholarly contributions include numerous publications in constitutional law, international trade law, international environmental law, corporations law, and human rights law. His works are widely published in leading peer-reviewed journals, books, policy papers, and reports.
Professor Abotsi holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Ghana, a BL Practicing Certificate from the Ghana School of Law, an LLM from Harvard Law School, and a PhD in Law from the University of Milan, Italy.
He is widely sought after as a consultant by both local and international institutions including the IMF and UNICEF, and has contributed to major reforms and policy development initiatives across Africa. He has also been a visiting scholar and lecturer at leading institutions such as Oxford University, Fordham Law School, Indiana Law School, and the University of Milan (Bicocca).
Beyond academia and legal practice, Professor Abotsi sits on the boards of leading corporations and advisory councils in Ghana and serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Chief Executives Network of Ghana, a body of CEOs from some of the nation’s most notable corporations. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Directors Ghana and an active member of Rotary International.
