Dispute Resolution Awards
Michele Stumpe, Mediator/Arbitrator with Ardis Dispute Resolution in the US. Certified in the US and East Africa. Partner at Taylor English Duma LLP. Ms. Stumpe represents clients in all aspects of civil litigation. Having tried multi-million dollar cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants (and having obtained the 3 highest payouts ever in a negligent security lawsuit against the Metropolitan Atlanta Transit Authority), she has developed a unique perspective that aids in case evaluation and effective litigation. Stumpe used the money from these cases to start a scholarship program for kids in Africa through Children of Conservation. As a prior business owner, Stumpe understands the frustration of engaging in litigation to enforce a contract or paying legal fees to defend a frivolous case. Stumpe brings this insight to her cases and works with clients as partners in the litigation process. She excels at negotiation and mediation through preparedness and her ability to find creative solutions towards satisfying the goals of all parties involved. She has utilized these skills abroad in negotiations with African governments as well as representing clients in jurisdictions throughout the United States in matters ranging from complex business disputes to tort claims. Stumpe has also developed a specialty in alcohol laws and assists clients nationally with alcohol compliance needs. She has been a frequent speaker at seminars that focus on topics including but not limited to negotiation skills and techniques, conservation issues, gender equality and women’s empowerment, sustainable development, strategic planning, trial practice and alcohol compliance. She also developed and implemented management level retail training programs that have since become mandatory in numerous jurisdictions throughout the state of Georgia.
Specialties: Negotiation, Litigation, Alcohol Compliance, African Governments, Sustainability, Ethics for Non-Profits and Strategic Partnerships.
