Mr. M. M. Sharma, Advocate, Delhi High Court since 1985, heads the Competition Law & Policy practice in the Law Firm, Vaish Associates Advocates (VA), since 2009. VA is a 53-year-old reputed Tax, Corporate and Business Advisory Law Firm with offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
He has over 38 years’ experience, including regulatory & judicial experience as Judge Advocate (JAG Branch) in the Indian Navy/Coast Guard of over 10 years. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Economics of Competition Law from Kings College, London. He has worked in the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as Additional Registrar during 2006-2008 and was responsible for drafting the Implementing Regulations under the Competition Act, 2002. He also worked as Head-Legal /In-house Counsel in Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) before joining VA.
Mr. Sharma has advised and represented clients, mainly companies and Firms and their directors
/partners etc as independent Counsel, on antitrust issues before the CCI, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), High Courts etc. in some noted cases including some leading antitrust cases on cartels & abuse of dominant position. He has also some notable M&A filings in CCI to his credit. He is a prolific writer on competition issues and has few international publications in noted journals to his credit.
He also runs an independent Blog, the Antitrust & Competition Law Blog. He also contributes
updates on “Competition/Antitrust” exclusively from India in leading International Law Journals, Like the International Law Office, Competitionfeed.com, Concurrences, Lexology and Mondaq from India regularly. He is also the editor of the Firm’s bi-monthly Newsletter, the Competition News Bulletin, now in the 13th year of publication.
Mr Sharma is also a member of the Regulatory Affairs Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and of Corporate Affairs, MSME and many other Committees in the PHD Chamber of Commerce.
