Bio-Professional Background (Brief)
Njiramanda Mbewe is an admitted Attorney, Notary Public and Conveyancer in the High Courts of Botswana. She graduated with a Bachelor of Law from the Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. She boasts ten years of experience in the legal field.
She is the founder of Mbewe Legal Practice a citizen owned and female Led and inclusive firm that practices in Gaborone and is a Human Rights and anti Gender Based Violence activist. Her firms mission is to be legal service with a difference.
She imparts legal knowledge to the nation on various platforms in her country like television, and radio every Saturday. She is a public speaker on the law;. She has Participated in initiatives for the fights against Gender Based Violence and presented in committees on same and also presented for private Foundations.
She is a currently a committee member of the human rights, rule of law and advocate committee and a former member of the Law Society of Botswana Council. In the year 2021 her firm partnered with the Botswana Network of Ethics Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) and had a campaign where the Minister of Health launched the address on Gender Based Violence and related social issues. The firm also founded Baagisanyi Network a group of professionals that were put together comprising of the District Commissioner, a Chief (Kgosi) a reverend, and a social worker and Legal Ladies Botswana, a mentorship network which bridges the gap between attorneys and judges for purposes of mentorship and personal development and growth. The firm has also successfully registered community Trusts for communities in the outskirts of the city.
Recently, Njiramanda was selected as a Mandela Washington Fellow 2023 in the civic engagement track and is now an alumni after a closing address in Washington DC by the United States Secretary of state Antony Blinken. She is also a recipient of a congratulatory letter from Vice President of America Kamala Harris and a certificate of completion from the Presidential Precinct, a leadership organization,where she was placed. Her focus project is access to justice.
Njiramanda was selected to remain in the United states for the Fellowship Professional Development Experience and has been placed with the Urban Justice Centre in New York.
